Simon Feser is a printmaker, photographer and illustrator based in Regina, Saskatchewan. His work evokes the aesthetics of dark fantasy, medieval, and lowbrow surrealist art. History and philosophy inform his work in the examination of human life. Through this lens Simon challenges ideas surrounding consciousness, death, and religious interpretations of the soul.

Artist Statement

Simon Feser’s print series, titled “Binary Portals,” is a critical examination of the context surrounding existence. Viewing his experience through the lens of religious and visionary art, he considers the balance between life, death, heaven, and hell, imagined on a twin axis. The binary portals evoke the passing between these states, and the barrier between the internal and external experience of reality, the body and the soul. This series exists as a philosophical pursuit of the final unknowable truth of the human experience, and an inquiry into the self.
